Frequently Asked Questions

When will KMc Training be offering increment courses?
We aim to run each course 3 times per year, with start dates in January, May, and September.

What does it mean to take an online course?
KMc Training offers courses starting in January, May and September.  Courses must be completed within 120 days from the day the course begins, however, you can work at your own pace and complete the course as quickly or as slowly as you like within the time frame.  While each course varies in content, all courses offered by KMc Training will require the student to complete an online exam, short online quizzes and participate in online discussion forums.  Participation in the online discussion forums is crucial to your success and the success of your course colleagues.  These discussions will occur in the online environment, allowing you to experience the valuable and meaningful learning opportunities of discussion forums at your convenience.

What courses does KMc Training offer?
At this time, KMc Training offers three courses:

  • Crime Reduction Strategies for Police
  • Police and Gang Interdiction
  • Police and Restorative Justice

Additional courses under development include:

  • Critical and Logical Thinking for Police
  • Introduction to Human Assets: Informants, Witnesses, Agents
  • Police and Family Wellness
  • Police and the Mentally Disordered
  • Policing and Human Rights
  • Strategic Police Leadership
  • Writing in a Police Environment
  • Youth and Crime

Are there pre-requisites for these courses?
Crime Reduction Strategies for Police is a pre-requisite for Police and Gang Interdiction.  The reason for this is to ensure that the student gets comfortable with the online learning format, course structure and workload before embarking on the more technologically advanced Police and Gang Interdiction course.  However, exceptions can be made, so contact Keiron by email at keiron@kmctraining.com with questions or concerns.

How long do I have to complete the course?
The course must be completed within 120 days from the day the course begins however, you can work at your own pace and complete the course as quickly or as slowly as you like within the timeframe.  As all increment courses, the course is designed to take approximately 35 hours, including reading the course material.

The course is designed to be flexible and only has 3 due dates:

  1. that you set up your account before the first day the class begins
  2. that you post an introduction within 24 hours of the first day of the class
  3. that you complete the course within 120 days from the start date

Other than these 3 requirements, you work at your own pace and complete the course at your own speed.

What is the course tuition and how do I pay?
The course fee for each KMc Training course is $350, and includes the reading material.  Cheques should be made payable to KMc Training and dated no later than the course start date.  Cheques will be cashed on the course start date.

Please mail your cheque to:

Do I have to be online at the same time as anybody else?
No, you do not need to be online at the same time as anyone else.  Participation in the online discussion forums is crucial to your success and the success of your course colleagues.  You can post your comments, and check back later for the comments of your colleagues.  These discussions will occur in the online environment, allowing you to experience the valuable and meaningful learning opportunities of discussion forums at your convenience.
